WWE would probably like fans to forget that John Cena used to badmouth opponents with profanity-laden raps, spank Stephanie McMahon mid-ring and shout from the rooftops about "Deez Nuts". According to Bruce Prichard on his Something To Wrestle With podcast, Vince McMahon didn't have a clue what the hell Cena was talking about.

Back when John was dressing like the lovechild of Eminem and Vanilla Ice, his language was coarse, his pop-culture references plentiful and his renegade spirit strong. McMahon loved that about him, but he just didn't get why John was droning on about cashews.

This is not a joke: Vincent Kennedy McMahon believed Cena was literally talking about food when he said "Deez Nuts".

Cena was inspired by a track from Dr. Dre's album The Chronic called "Deeez Nuuuts", and, for a brief spell, it became his chosen catchphrase. Meanwhile, Vinnie Mac was backstage wondering why people popped when Cena started pontificating about his love of pistachios.
