A simple Google search will tell you that Rusev started training under ex-WWE stalwarts Rikishi and Gangrel at the Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy in California when he moved from his native Bulgaria to the US. According to Gangrel, The Bulgarian's dedication was on another level.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, the vampire warrior said that Rusev held down no less than three jobs whilst he was training for life as a pro wrestler. Not only that, he'd work double sessions at the school; post-morning shift, Ru-Ru would take some bumps. Then, he'd work another job before coming back for further training.

In between these intense periods of work, Rusev would catch a few hours sleep in his car. Back then, it probably wasn't a Ferrari. Just a guess.

Gangrel said Rusev's disciplined nature impressed him from the get-go, and it quickly became clear that his student would go on to bigger and better things.
