7. Paul Heyman Thought Raven Might Be A Comedy Character

So invested in the Raven character was Scott Levy that he legit started to mimic the persona by growing more dependent on alcohol and drugs. Even though he knew this was a slippery slope, Levy couldn't stop himself and life began to imitate art.

Yikes.

In less depressing news, Levy also told Title Match Wrestling this week that Paul Heyman was confused about the Raven character at first and thought the gimmick might be comedic. Don't laugh, because Paul's logic was sound; before becoming a moping grunge rocker, Levy had only played sprightly, over-the-top characters elsewhere.

Heyman viewed the grunge gimmick as an unfortunate misfit, and it wasn't until Levy explained his vision for the character that ECW's mad professor finally got on board. That's when the Tommy Dreamer feud (one of ECW's best) kicked off.
