Making his debut on the main roster as part of the original NXT show back in 2010, Wade Barrett looked like a real hot prospect. His English accent helped him stand out from the rest of the crowd, but the Brit didn't suffer from any voice-related problems. His delivery on promos was very clear, making it easy for the North American audiences to understand him.

As the leader of The Nexus crew, Barrett looked like a dead cert to become a regular headliner in the company. For a number of reasons, that would never happen, he was routinely stuck in the mid card pack regardless of which character he played. The most recent gimmick WWE had for him was the ill-fated 'King' Barrett guise.

On his own podcast, The Sharpshooter Show, Bret Hart gave his thoughts this wee, opining that Barrett wasn't booked properly during his run there. Citing terrible gimmicks and odd attempts to downplay the man's strengths, Hart says Barrett could have become the greatest British performer the company have ever had on their books.

Coming from the former brother-in-law to the British Bulldog, that's quite the statement.
