10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (May 29)

1. Goldberg Claims He Would Have Been Bigger Heel Than Brock Lesnar

Bill Goldberg's star shone brightly, but also fairly briefly. Bursting onto the scene in 1997, Goldberg was one wrestler WCW fans instantly connected with. Exhibiting natural charisma and an explosive range of power moves, the man racked up victory after victory - it wasn't necessarily the opponents the guy was defeating that made people take notice, it was his intensity. Turning the man heel in 2000 is widely regarded as a poor move on WCW's part, but during a recent media appearance, Goldberg himself revealed that he was fully behind the idea and really wanted to make it work, only one meeting with a crying little girl - who was a fan of his - made him change his mind. Realising people regarded him highly, he went to WCW management and had them revert him back to being a babyface. Stunningly, during the same interview, Goldberg said that if people think Brock Lesnar is a killer villain, they would have been blown away by what he had to offer. It's unclear exactly why he chose to single out Lesnar, who has been tearing it up on WWE television since his return in 2012 as a monster heel. Did Goldberg have some similar ideas in mind for his aborted heel run in WCW back at the turn of the millennium? What other big news stories and facts from this past week caught your eye?
