Diagnosed with Bipolar disorder long before she had joined WWE, it took years before AJ Lee found the admission liberating and a sign that she was finally becoming more comfortable in her own skin. That marked quite the change for Lee, because she had previously hidden behind the idea of mental illness and kept it a secret from her co-workers in WWE.

During an interview with Chicago Magazine, AJ couldn't help but laugh at the irony of playing a 'crazy' character on television when she was battling illness in her real life. Even more fascinating is the fact that Lee always used the word 'crazy' to further hide her own mental issues, like she was making a joke out of it.

Nobody in WWE knew that AJ Lee had Bipolar, but (in fairness), she can't be blamed for trying to keep it private due to the stigma that's often associated with manic depression. Real-life problems or not, Lee's psychotic WWE character is one of the most memorable of the past decade.
