If only serious neck injuries hadn't forced Edge to retire from the ring in 2011. Had the Canadian been able to continue wrestling, then he would have been able to go out on his own terms and at the hands of a lifelong friend. The original plan for Edge's retirement called for Christian to beat him at WrestleMania.

Discussing this tentative storyline on their E&C Pod Of Awesomeness, the pair revealed that Christian was supposed to cost Edge the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio in 2011. Then, the one-time storyline brothers would move on to a feud against one another and peak at WrestleMania XXVIII. That's when Edge would have retired.

Doctors intervened and recommended Edge walk away from wrestling while he was still able. Taking their advice on board, the legend did so, bringing the curtain down on his career and curtailing plans for the Christian feud.
