At the tail-end of 2015, Sheamus was riding high as the WWE Champion. Winning the belt at Survivor Series, the Irishman would then drop it to Roman Reigns before the end of December. In the months to follow, Sheamus formed The League Of Nations alongside others who were treading water like 'King' Barrett, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio.

When WWE elected to present another brand split, it seemed like Sheamus might get lost in the shuffle of the mid card pack. Thankfully, he has been able to prove himself all over again following a 'Best Of 7 Series' opposite Cesaro.

Despite some fans not being happy with the inconclusive ending to the series, Sheamus told The Sports Bible that he was personally delighted with it. Needing something he could use to capture the collective imaginations of company management, the Mohawk-toting star viewed the 'Best Of 7' idea as just the ticket.

Instead of feeling his matches against Cesaro were mere throwaway, Sheamus wanted to prove to higher-ups that he was one of the best in-ring performers on Raw.
