10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Oct 6)

1. Jim Ross Didn't Feel Welcome At WrestleMania IX

Right before WrestleMania IX went live, Vince McMahon stood backstage in front of the entire locker room and introduced Jim Ross as a new part of the announce team. Unsure what to expect, Ross couldn't believe it when nobody made a sound. Immediately, he felt unwelcome after trading WCW for the WWF.

In the same breath, JR told ESPN he didn't have time to wallow in his own insecurity. After all, he was lucky enough to be announcing WrestleMania alongside Randy Savage and Bobby Heenan, so it was hardly the worst situation he had faced during his career. Ever the professional, Ross had a job to do, and he was determined to do it well.

Quickly, Jim found allies in Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon. Both men helped integrate him into the WWF system and that changed opinions of Ross in the locker room. Even one of wrestling's most famous announcers had trouble breaking the ice, which is fascinating to think about now.
