Since joining WWE earlier this year, Bobby Roode has produced some stellar work on NXT programming. There'a always going to be the need for management to maintain the NXT roster, especially given the fact that numerous stars are 'promoted' onto the main roster. Roode was ideal for such a role, he has name value stemming from his lengthy tenure in TNA.

Over the years, WWE have been known to take established stars and change their on screen names. This is presumably done for marketing purposes, the McMahon family enjoy ownership and trademarks. Something has changed in recent times though, the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries have all been able to keep their well-known monikers.

A source of much humour on social media, these aforementioned name changes have affected the likes of Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson), Low-Ki (Sensei) and others in the past. Talking to Sporting News, Roode said there was never any discussion about a name change when he signed on the dotted line for WWE.

In fact, the subject was never broached. That's a good sign for the future, it appears WWE have moved on from drastic name changes.
