"I like country music, I like country girls. I like Willie Nelson, and don't forget about Merle. There's only one thing that I hate, 'cause it's a bunch of crap. I-I-I hate rap".

Who could ever forget the sweet dulcet tones of Curt Hennig and the rest of the boys in the West Texas Rednecks as they crooned their way through an anti-hip hop classic in WCW. The 1999 song, "Rap Is Crap", even had minor radio success in southern states, and it turned the group into de facto babyfaces with company fans.

Meanwhile, Eric Bischoff was fighting an uphill battle against corporate suits at Turner offices. They hated the tune, and some even believed it contravened typical standards and practices. Bischoff told this story on his excellent 83 Weeks podcast. Boo to those stuffy suits for failing to see the lighter side of pro wrestling. Much to Eric and the faction's chagrin, WCW higher-ups put a stop to their rap-bashing antics and decreed that the song was to be pulled. No more coverage on programming and no more radio airplay.

Apparently, getting over is a bad thing...
