Mick Foley's reign as Raw General Manager appeared to be building towards something when he walked away from the job shortly before WrestleMania 33. Planning hip surgery whenever he had the time, the veteran was fired on screen and replaced by Kurt Angle in the GM role a few weeks later. He hasn't been seen since.

The authority figure slot came as a surprise to Angle, who told The Sun that he was never in the running to become GM when talks regarding a WWE return started. Kurt was in the dark on Foley's situation, admitting that it was WWE's idea to promote him as the new General Manager on Monday nights, not his own.

Angle hasn't kept it a secret that he'd much rather wrestle again. That in-ring comeback seems inevitable, because there's huge money to be squeezed out of a few marquee matches or one final WrestleMania showing from Kurt. For now, he's enjoying the regular role on TV, although he did admit during the interview that he didn't see it coming.
