4. X-Pac Turned Down A WrestleMania Match With Chris Jericho
By his own admission, Sean Waltman hasn't always made the smartest business decisions. One example he told during an interview on Steve Austin's podcast was turning down Vince McMahon's idea to have the Red Hot Chili Peppers record a new track for his X-Factor group in 2001. X-Pac wanted Uncle Kracker to do the song instead.
The year before, X-Pac also turned down a big match at WrestleMania 2000. Approached by both Vince and Shane McMahon, Waltman was told of plans to put him against Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title on the biggest show of the year. Turning that idea down flat, X-Pac wanted to finish his story with Kane on the pay-per-view instead.
Waltman teamed with Road Dogg and lost to the random pairing of Kane and Rikishi in a 4-minute tag match right before the 'Mania main event. The writing team had moved on from his feud with Kane, but X-Pac was determined to squeeze more matches out of it. That, quite clearly, was a mistake, but Pac didn't want to work with Jericho.
