Hell In A Cell matches just aren't the same as they used to be. People can go back and forth on exactly why that is, but it has a lot to do with the lack of blood in WWE nowadays. At least, that's what Edge believed before his Cell match with The Undertaker at SummerSlam 2008. How could you pull off one of WWE's most dangerous spectacles without blading?

Disgusted by Vince McMahon's assertion that he and 'Taker refrain from using blood on the pay-per-view, Edge went into his Cell match at SummerSlam '08 already disappointed with it. On the E&C Pod Of Awesomeness, Edge told how McMahon challenged him to set the standard for Cell matches of the future, then admitted he didn't understand the idea at the time.

Having already pieced together parts of the match that relied on heavy use of blood, Edge was forced to meet up with Undertaker and rejig the entire bout. Not only did that throw a spanner in the works hours before a blowoff match, it made selling the danger of the Cell itself more difficult.

It wasn't until years later that Edge understood McMahon's logic. He trusted both men to prove that Cell matches could work without colour.
