Remember all that talk about the Styles Clash being banned in WWE? Those rumours stemmed from AJ's first few appearances in the company during which he neglected to use his famous finisher. According to Chris Jericho, Vince McMahon did have a problem with it, even though he barely even knew what the move was called.

On the Baby Huey & Bimbo Jimbo Show, Y2J claimed he pulled the wool over McMahon's eyes and ensured that Styles could use his signature move going forward. Deliberately taking the Clash during house show matches, Jericho would then speak to Vince backstage and ask him if he'd seen the hold where 'AJ picks me up and dumps me on my face'.

Never uttering the Styles Clash name, Y2J craftily convinced McMahon that the move would be an excellent finisher for AJ. Vince agreed, and any notion of the Clash being deemed too dangerous for WWE suddenly disappeared overnight.
