Vince McMahon has poked fun at Jim Ross over the years. When he wasn't starring in skits mocking JR's colonoscopy, the boss was contorting his face and crudely making light of Jim's battles with Bell's Palsy. It'd be easy then to imagine that McMahon doesn't like or respect Ross, but the legendary announcer told Sports Illustrated that isn't true.

In fact, McMahon once penned a hand-written letter he then had hand-delivered to Ross's home when the WWE patriarch learned his loyal employee had contracted Bell's Palsy a second time. This note is included in JR's new autobiography, and Jim says it shows the real side of a man most known as the vindictive 'Mr. McMahon' character.

Vince's way of motivating one of his most trusted lieutenants was by using tough love. Even though he knew Ross had to be hurting, McMahon encouraged him to come back to work and they'd fight through the issues together. Right then, Ross knew how much he meant to Vince and WWE.
