Who could've known that wearing a plague doctor's mask would turn out be the best decision Marty Scurll ever made? Reimagining himself as 'The Villain', the Brit is now taking the world by storm as part of The Bullet Club. The journey to this point has been peppered with unlikely inspiration.

Talking to Sean Waltman for the X-Pac 1, 2, 360 podcast, Marty said he watched an awful lot of movies a few years ago to prepare himself for the new character. Malcolm McDowall's performance in A Clockwork Orange and Heath Ledger's take on The Joker in The Dark Knight both seem fairly understandable; as twisted psychopaths, that pair lend themselves to Scurll's portrayal of the updated wrestling bad guy formula.

Then, there's Jim Carrey's work as Stanley Ipkiss in The Mask. To Marty, putting on his own mask changed him, much like Ipkiss in the 1994 movie. That's quite an out-there source of inspiration. You don't hear many people saying Carrey's green-faced funnyman inspired their wrestling gimmick.
