10 Wrestling Fates Worse Than Death

8. Vince Witnesses Stone Cold Become CEO

Austin vs. McMahon might be the best rivalry there was or will be in wrestling. It transfixed fans with Vince trying to ruin Austin only for Austin to come back swinging all the while flipping him the middle fingers. They spent their days on Raw Is War and pay per views forever tormenting each other.

At Over The Edge, Austin got screwed out of the WWF Championship to The Undertaker in a plot that was later revealed to have been orchestrated by ‘The Higher Power’ Vince McMahon. This led to Linda McMahon announcing to Vince she had to cease being the CEO of WWF and revealed her successor to be none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin. It meant Vince could no longer bark orders/stipulations at him and Austin had free rein to do whatever the hell he wanted.

Vince watching Austin being declared CEO of the company he built from the ground up was a life-wrecking, wretched moment for Mr. McMahon. It was short-lived but it produced an exceptionally funny scene following Austin on his first day on the job as CEO at WWF Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

You have to think the real-life Vince McMahon and the Mr. McMahon character would rather die than have one of his mortal enemies lead the WWF/E in any way. Imagine Nailz or Phil Mushnick suddenly being on the WWE Board of Directors; Vince would blow every fuse in his body.
