10 Wrestling Feuds Where The Bad Guy Won

8. Edge Vs. Matt Hardy

WWE would argue that Matt Hardy was given enough of a win with a B-level pay-per-view victory over Edge as well as the fact he returned from a mid-year sacking in the first place. These were crumbs - both of comfort and to feed an audience starving for 'V1.0' to take revenge on his former friend.

'The Rated-R Superstar' and Lita's illicit relationship came to light courtesy of Hardy sharing the story with his online fanbase having discovered it during a period of convalescence, and after the company callously kicked him into touch during the scandal, the heat intensified.

His summer return was the first foreshadowing of the pair's ability to turn the negatives into a creative and commercial positive, but WWE saw the entire thing as a star-making vehicle for Edge rather that a vindication tale for the wronged party. Their SummerSlam match was a borderline burial after Edge targeted the head of his rival, whilst their Raw decider saw Lita rob Matt of his career on the red brand by trapping him as Edge climbed the ladder to reclaim his Money In The Bank briefcase to boot.

Hardy had at least gotten his professional life back on track, but he was offered little quarter when it came to matters of the heart.
