5. Dolph Ziggler

He's here to show the world, according to his entrance music, but Dolph Ziggler's 'Show Off' persona long descended into parody when his career struggled to reach the heights his worked deserved.

Born out of the fact that he bumped like a f*cking maniac and had a far more appealing upside than many of the bland John Laurinaitis-era failures, Ziggler became beloved amongst a large portion of the fanbase desperate for somebody other than just CM Punk to lay a blow on a John Cena main event monopoly in the 2010s.

Unfortunately, it didn't materialise - Ziggler was robbed of his lone proper World Title in 2013 due to a head injury-enforced absence, and never regained the faith of Vince McMahon to carry the can again.

Every year hence was spent fighting over meaningless titles and causes, to the point where he had only "It should have been ME!" as his retort for fellow survivor Kofi Kingston climbing the mountain in 2019. He'd long gone from showing to having to tell - a fatal flaw in whatever remained of his tattered topline run.
