Who You Think Created It: Dustin Rhodes.

Who Actually Created It: Decades ago, countless posts littered wrestling forums praising Rhodes for biting back at his father Dusty after leaving WCW and creating the Goldust character. Eventually, it'd come to light that the idea wasn't Dustin's at all. It was one Vincent Kennedy McMahon's.

Rhodes didn't even know what the word 'androgynous' meant when Vince told him his vision.

McMahon wanted to shake up his sterile mid-'90s WWF product by introducing a gimmick that'd turn heads and get people talking. The controversial movie star guise he wanted Rhodes to play would either make him money or ruin his career - Dustin was willing to roll the dice and see what happened.
