10 Wrestling Heel Turns That Should Be Erased From History

4. Jim Duggan

Perhaps Jim Duggan turning on the United States of America may have meant something in 1990. Maybe even 1992. Anything past that was really pushing it.

Had he turned heel around that time, the ultra patriot could have perhaps got a brief feud with Hulk Hogan out of the deal before being legdropped in the throat. But in 2001, an evil Duggan seemed more of a weird, desperate, nonsensical attempt to shock fans than anything. But it didn’t really shock them as much as it seemed to annoy and disinterest them.

Duggan joined Lance Storm’s Team Canada after turning his back on Hugh G. Rection, and thus the entire United States in the process. As you can guess, this was during Vince Russo’s run on creative. The entire thing was a contrived mess that nobody bought into, or really cared about. However, Duggan was very angry about the whole thing, and still seems a bit upset about it.

Yeah, let’s do him a solid and forget that this one never happened.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
