10 Wrestling Hoaxes That Fooled The Internet

2. A Tragic Plea For Attention

The most recent and perhaps distressing hoax of the lot, Jason Sensation, of Attitude Era cameo fame, threatened to die by suicide live on the August 28, 2018 Monday Night RAW.

Tweeting that he managed to get his gun "through security", with which he planned on shooting himself "in the head", several panicked Twitter users, including Vince Russo in a heartfelt gesture, pleaded with Jason to see sense. Others alerted the Toronto Police department to the tweet. Mercifully, Sensation was not at the Scotiabank Arena. Neither his life nor the lives of others were in any danger.

Most entertainers thrive under a spotlight that had not shined on Sensation for a good number of years. His enforced stint in the wilderness rendered this a gut punch of plausibility, especially given the not inconsiderable rise of gun crime in the area. Jason explained in the days afterwards that his depression, exacerbated by the manner in which his pro wrestling career fizzled out, was heightened by the presence of WWE in his home city.

Jason left an indelible mark on the most star-powered, competitive era of WWE's history.

It is hoped that he knows this, and that this knowledge puts his mind at ease during better times.
