4. Chris Jericho

One of the funniest characters in company history, the Man of 1,004 Holds was a midcard favourite throughout his WCW tenure. The only problem was that Jericho was clearly cut out for more.

Going from strength to strength in his mic and ring work, a proposed Goldberg feud might've been Jericho's ticket to a bump up the card. Sadly, Goldberg believed Jericho lacked the mutant-levels of muscles mass necessary to be a credible threat to him (an absolutely hilarious notion given how the real-life scuffle between these 2 went). Even a squash match with the bald-headed beast was turned down despite the positive reception to Jericho's promos on him.

Trapped in TV title purgatory with no upwards trajectory in sight, Jericho grew disillusioned and signed with WWE. With a few months left on his WCW contract, the company turned Jericho into a total ceiling starer before taking him off TV entirely. Signs and chants from audiences confirmed they were none too happy with his disappearance from TV. His subsequent classic debut on RAW was another key win in the Monday Night Wars for WWE.
