CZW’s Tournament of Death VIII ended in a horrific way. You expect blood and brutality at CZW shows, just not the amount that was given. The tournament was brutal leading up to the finals (with a young Jon Moxley being one of the participants) but escalated at the finals.

In the finals it was Nick Gage fighting Thumbtack Jack, with Jack throwing Gage through light tubes in one spot in the match. One light tube ended up going through Gage’s armpit where major arteries are, slicing two of them to the point Gage bled profusely, nearly actually bleeding to death.

It was immediately evident to everyone looking on as soon as Gage hit the light tubes that he was in critical danger, with blood seeping through his vest. Gage has claimed he was so fired up over the incident that he didn’t know the severity of the injury, with him wanting the medical nurse to tape him up and continue on with the match. The nurse and CZW organizers refused to listen to him and got him the medical attention he desperately required, taking him out of the match. Because of the severity of the injury officials had to step in and rule the match a no-contest. Who knew a death match could end in a no-contest?
