10 Wrestling Matches That Carried The Highest Stakes

9. Loser Goes To Jail!

The Mountie SummerSlam 1991

American Law enforcement and Canadian Law enforcement apparently couldn’t get along in 1991, so each country put forth their best fighters and had them compete in a match at SummerSlam to see which nation has the most effective ways of keeping the peace. Seems like a fun enough idea, except for the loser of this match had to spend a night in jail!

Boss Man walked away with the win that night, and was a free man. Perhaps it was his home country advantage that helped him out. Mountie, though, took the loss quite badly, and had to be subdued by multiple officers as he was thrown in a police van and driven off into the night.

While the stipulation said the loser had to only spend a single night in jail, you can imagine that Mountie resisting arrest likely added to his sentence, or at least still remains on his file.

Oh, and since the WWF was very homophobic at the time, they put in an obviously gay character to hit on Mountie. Surprisingly, Mountie was quite terrified by this... because he must have forgot that he's a professionally trained fighter?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
