10 Wrestling Matches That Changed Fans Opinions On Certain Wrestlers
4. Drew McIntyre's Royal Rumble Match (WWE Royal Rumble 2020)
The phrase "star-making performance" gets thrown around a lot in wrestling, but moments have ever made someone a certified main eventer in the same way that Drew McIntyre winning the Royal Rumble did.
In fact, the change from upper midcarder to future world champion actually happened about halfway through the match.
The 2020 Men's Royal Rumble was a unique one, because reigning WWE Champion Brock Lesnar entered it at number one. Lesnar dominated the first half of the match, eliminating everyone who stepped in his way. That was, until Drew McIntyre arrived.
With a little help from Ricochet in the form of a low block on Brock, Drew Claymore'd The Beast out of the ring to a huge pop from the crowd. He then went on to eliminate five more people on his way to winning the whole contest.
McIntyre's powerful display in the Rumble match confirmed that he was ready for the main event and the fan's positive response to him proved that they were ready for him to be there too.
With one swift kick to send Brock Lesnar flying, McIntyre changed his career for good and we've never looked back.
