Although it probably can't be classed as an out-and-out wrestling match, you could definitely argue that Daniel Puder and Kurt Angle's infamous exchange on SmackDown in 2004 was a contest of sorts.

Angle was hosting one of his regular 'Angle Invitational' segments on the blue show and it looked as though the plan was for him to make an example out of that year's crop of Tough Enough contestants. After ploughing through another young hopeful, up stepped former MMA fighter Daniel Puder and cue the aforementioned plan being torn to pieces.

The pair quickly began to grapple and it became apparent that this was a legitimate tussle which Angle may in fact lose. Angle was visibly giving it his all, but Puder wasn't here to get the star over. He wanted to make a name for himself.

Thinking on his feet, Angle then pushed his body weight over Puder and forced the ref to count a three. After this, Angle could be heard asking Puder, 'Don't you know any better?' following the conclusion of the skirmish.

Puder had his own plans when he stepped into the ring with the Olympic Gold Medalist and in deviating away from what was originally laid out, he set himself up for the hazing of a lifetime in the 2005 Royal Rumble at the hands of Chris Benoit, Bob Holly and Eddie Guerrero.
