1999's St. Valentine's Day Massacre was notable for several reasons. Not just was this the PPV which saw Paul Wight make his WWF debut as Steve Austin took on Vince McMahon in a steel cage bout, and not just was this the last main roster event to use the In Your House branding, but St. Valentine's Day Massacre also served up one of the most memorable Hardcore Title matches in company history.

That bout pitted two J.O.B. Squad members against each other, with Al Snow battling Hardcore Holly for the vacant Hardcore Championship.

While this contest started in the ring that was housed in the Memphis Pyramid, the match would overflow into the backstage area and eventually out of the venue. With said venue on the banks of the Mississippi River, Snow and Holly fought into the river itself before Hardcore eventually pinned Al on the side of the river after wrapping him up nice 'n' tight in a chain fence.

Al Snow would later win the Hardcore Championship the following April at the Backlash PPV, and it was Hardcore Holly - then in the midst of his second reign with that title - who he defeated to win that prize.
