10 Wrestling Matches That Ended In Unbelievable Locations
4. Mankind And The Rock In An Empty Arena Match (Halftime Heat 1999)
This match was a part of "Halftime Heat" that aired during halftime of the Super Bowl in 1999. They announced that The Rock, the heel WWE Champion, would defend the title against Mankind in an empty arena match. It was so weird to see two of the biggest stars in the business starting out with a regular match inside the ring with no fans there to cheer or boo these two greats. It wasn't a surprise that the action spilled outside the ring with WWE's camera crew following them around the arena. Vince McMahon was on commentary for it because he probably knew they had a big audience and he wanted to make sure to get the storylines over. The action saw the combatants go up the stairs, then they went backstage to the catering area and made a mess of things. They also battled in an office area of the arena. The Rock was in control for most of the action until Mankind's physical nature led to him being the aggressor. For the final portion of the match, they were out in the loading dock area where all the trucks were. Mankind slowed down Rock when he applied the Mandible Claw to knock out The Rock on the cement. There was a cheesy moment as Mankind lowered a wooden palette onto Rock's chest and the camera switched to a shot from the palette dropping onto Rock's chest. Mankind put the wood palette onto Rock, covered him there and was awarded with the WWE Title again.
