10 Wrestling Matches We Need To See On AEW TV
5. Chris Jericho Vs. PAC
Sounds a bit more appealing now than it did when it was Jericho versus Neville, doesn’t it? Hopefully, this will go better than when Pac fractured his ankle against Chris in 2016. Certainly both men are willing to leave that time period in WWE behind them, especially the restrictions on their talents in and out of the ring.
After Pac defeated Kenny Omega at All Out, he seems destined for a title shot. Originally slated to appear at Double or Nothing against Page, he is clearly considered of the same value. Now that Jericho holds the title (or at least while he isn’t at Longhorn Steakhouse) a rematch seems perfect for TNT - maybe October 14th, when he is scheduled to defend.
Jericho will likely be kept champion for some time to help build the belt's image. In order to do that effectively, he will need to defeat some big-name opponents. Part of Jericho’s draw, whether AEW wants to admit it or not, is that he is a recognizable name from WWE. And thus a match up with another former WWE wrestler will certainly gather some eyes around it.
October 2nd will be a huge moment for AEW, but perhaps even more so will be the shows that follow it. WWE shows that big one time events like Raw Reunion can pop a big rating number.
AEW needs to instead be sustaining numbers weekly. Matches like this one, even if it is a little bit of clickbait pandering, will help accomplish just that.
