10 Wrestling Matches We Need To See On AEW TV
4. MJF Vs. Cody
Relationships in wrestling are bound to end. Stables and tag teams are almost never forever (keep that rule in mind) and that proves itself time and time again. Which puts the writing on the wall when it comes to Cody and MJF.
Clearly, from his promo work, MJF wants us to know he is Cody’s right-hand man, his closest friend, his most loyal ally. But there are clearly some ulterior motives, both in and out of kayfabe, at play here. One does not simply become loyal to an authority figure in the world of wrestling by accident.
MJF was often in the way at All Out in Cody’s corner, creating distractions that helped Spears more than his man. Was this intentionally done to help Shawn? Are MJF and Spears already forming their own “elite” group within the company? Does MJF cost Cody in a rematch between the two? Find out next week on AEW on TNT!
This type of brilliant, seeds-planted storytelling will be what keeps people coming back. Everybody knows how great the wrestling is - that has been well proven to this point. That crowd is well appeased and will continue to be. The next step is in making the feuds and storytelling feel more compelling than WWE's offerings.
That will be what captures a new fanbase and will make TNT a happy network.
