10 Wrestling Matches You Should Watch To Prepare For WWE Extreme Rules

2. CM Punk Vs. John Cena - WWE Title (Money In The Bank 2011)

This is a choice because it's one of the best WWE matches in the history of the company, but it's also the best example of what the great Chicago crowd is like. It was such a rabid crowd that night. It really was one of the best WWE PPVs of all time and the main event absolutely delivered. It's incredible to go back to watch it from the moment Punk's music hits, then he walks out and gets one of the loudest sustained ovations in WWE history. He's a Chicago guy that the people genuinely loved. Cena's always had a unique relationship with the Chicago crowd too. A lot of the people there don't like him and it's the city that first regularly booed him going back to WrestleMania 22, yet he's had a lot of awesome matches there too, including this one. The image that never goes away is the sight of Punk cradling the WWE Title in his arms, then leaving through the crowd while WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was furious at ringside because the story was that they didn't know if Punk was staying in the company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OfSR68tEzs The best example of the Chicago crowd is this match. That's why it's worth checking out again.
