5. Fire Ant Vs. Soldier Ant (CHIKARA, December 5)
For nearly a decade, The Colony has been one of the most popular acts in the over-the-top, lucha libre-influenced Chikara. Playing the roles of a masked group of ants, the members - including Worker Ant, Green Ant, and Fire Ant - have become just as popular for their wrestling skills as for their (sorry) ANTics. Things haven't been perfect, though - beloved member Soldier Ant was separated from the group before leaving Chikara, and when he returned in 2014, he was part of the villainous stable called The Flood. Soldier Ant launched into a feud with his former allies, and it all came to head at last week's Top Banana event. Soldier Ant took on Fire Ant in a one-on-one bout with Jakob Hammermeier (an associate in Soldier Ant's post-Flood BDK stable) at ringside. During the bout, Hammermeier accidentally hit Soldier Ant, breaking the mind control (I did mention mind control, right?) that had first put him in the thrall of The Flood, then BDK. With Soldier Ant his own man again, The Colony reunited and hugged amidst tears of joy from longtime fans.
