10 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2019

1. Invisible Man Vs. Invisible Stan - GCW Spring Break

Be kind to that horrendous botch in the otherwise awesome PAC Vs. Trent match, for Bryce Remsburg is a tremendous referee adjusting to the pressures of the big-time.

At WrestleMania Weekend's GCW Spring Break, which Jim Cornette likely hasn't seen as it would have put him away for good, motherf*cker, Remsburg entered a tour de force of a refereeing performance by "officiating" a match between two "invisible men". He had to register nothing. This was impressive as credibly selling a 2019 Charlotte Flair moonsault.

The crowd played their part, too; as Invisible Stan made his entrance, they sold one-by-one as the camera panned backwards with chants of "F*ck you Stan". Stan, in the storyline, had attempted to kill his brother "Man". Invisible Stan drew more heel heat than Baron Corbin did during one of those barking dog segments on SmackDown.

Remsburg patted Stan down for weapons. Stage hands parted the entrance curtain from behind it. The level of detail here was inspired, wrestling's version of a Wes Anderson set, but it required something herculean on Remsburg's part to actually work as a performance. He flung himself to the mat to strike it, reacting to an apparent blitzkrieg of roll-up near-falls, as the commentary team expressed surprise that the blood feud had manifested with such scorching technicality. It all built, incredibly, to a balcony dive, which Remsburg orchestrated by clearing the fans away as if they were trapped in a burning building.

If wrestling, distilled to its core, is a performance art that requires audience participation to work, this was a genuine triumph masquerading as nonsense - an avant-garde masterpiece.
