10 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2019

The match was hilarious before it even happened.

Scott Steiner Vs. Swoggle, as a match graphic, was a punchline in itself - but the bizarre atomisation of modern pro wrestling made it a stupid, awesome reality in 2019. The dynamic was pitch-perfect black comedy: Swoggle is a little person, and Scott Steiner made an awesome career of wrecking the skulls and necks of monstrous men.

Ahead of the match, Steiner had a message for his diminutive opponent, and it was, of course, the funniest thing you'll ever hear. Riffing on his famous TNA math promo, Steiner worked out that his chances of winning had "skyracked" (sic) "1000%" because Swoggle, of course, is a "frickin' midget". Steiner corrected himself. That wasn't politically correct. But because Steiner has a gifted comedic mind, he said something almost as awful after the bait-and-switch: "Listen up, you short little bastard!"

They were never going to work the match threatened - imagine Swoggle taking the Steinerdriver lol - and so Steiner made hilarious use of smoke and mirrors by demanding the DJ play Randy Newman's 'Short People' before the bell rang. A defiant Swoggle flipped him off and hit on his valet.

Comedy wrestling without so much of the wrestling, the workrate was still superior to that of Royal Rumble 2003.
