10 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2020

When the whole world stopped, wrestling refused to. And the result? Mixed...

Every wrestling match of 2020 is a wrestling match you won't believe happened in 2020. Well, every one after March, anyway. There are so many honourable mentions, too.

Kenny Omega, Hangman Page and The Young Bucks assembled one of the best tag team matches in wrestling history. EVIL defended the IWGP Championship in a baseball stadium. Bray Wyatt was eviscerated by Bill Goldberg. The Undertaker's last ever match was cinematic, and even more surprisingly, well received. NXT ran a Championship Iron Man Fatal Four-Way Match without a finish. Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman tried to drown each other in a swamp that was as existential as it was literal. King Corbin threw Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black off the roof of Titan Tower. Chris Jericho bathed in mimosa via as viewers panicked if Matt Hardy was alive or not. Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman broke the ring before heel Roman Reigns turned up and took the glory. Io Shirai jumped off the top of a cage in a bin. Lana won a Survivor Series match by herself after her team bullied her into not even working it. Bray Wyatt was set on fire by Randy Orton.

All this weirdness, yet The Fiend had a Very Normal One.

It's been a year like no other, and it'd be nice to not have to repeat that cliche in this article in 12 months. Until then, things start when the world looked as it used to. Which is now almost unrecognisably different. Remarkably, beautifully different...

10. Fist Fight (WWE Monday Night Raw, January 13th 2020)

One of those "can you believe that was actually this year?!" matches, the inherent weirdness of the Monday Night Raw Fist Fight taking place in 2020 is best defined by what the participants are up to in December compared to January.

Back then, Kevin Owens ran up the Raw skate ramp. Now, he's trying to run a heel Roman Reigns off of SmackDown. Seth Rollins made the same move to Fridays, having spent most of his year trying to ruin Rey Mysterio's life. Samoa Joe has settled into life as a Raw commentator. The Big Show came then went then came then went then came then went, with at least two turns in there. After further injuries, AOP disappeared off screens before being let go outright in September.

At the time this main event took place, two of the babyfaces were outside Royal Rumble bets, with Rollins/Owens not looking like it stood no chance of making it to WrestleMania. Both calls were miles off by March, with 'KO' and 'The Kingslayer' having one of the best empty PC matches from that particular era.
