10 Wrestling Moments EVERYONE Expected To Happen (That Never Did)
2. AEW Is Moné
Tony Khan and AEW don't half love teasing their fans into assuming that a game-changing name is about to walk through the door.
And in some cases, the hints at a certain Best in the World shockingly becoming All Elite without every explicitly saying as much have led to absolutely iconic moments in wrestling history.
The same sadly cannot be said for the way TK and the gang handled the hints and teases of a certain one-time WWE Horsewoman showing up on All Elite TV earlier this year, however.
After it was made known that Saraya would be teaming with a mystery partner in a tag bout against AEW Women's World Champion Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker, the fact said match was made weeks in advance paved the way for a ton of speculation.
Before long, Sasha Banks' WWE exit being made all but official made The Boss the understandable favourite. And Baker's statement of herself being "The Boss" in the lead-up feeling remarkably similar to Darby Allin's Punk teases in 2021 also seemed to suggest Banks' AEW debut was very much in place.
On the night of January 11, though, Mercedes Mone was nowhere to be seen on the back of her NJPW debut. And AEW were forced to deal with a justifiably upset response from both fans online and those in attendance.
Had AEW simply announced Toni Storm as Saraya's teammate way ahead of time before perhaps swapping Mone into the mix if a deal could be done, then the situation likely wouldn't have gotten as out of control as it eventually did. But instead they opted to foolishly keep The CEO door open as long as possible and definitely paid the price.
