Eyebrows were raised when WWE announced that Steve Austin would be pulling on the boots for another whirl at WrestleMania 38. That's something the legend had dismissed for decades. He hadn't worked a match since 2003, for crying out loud. Now, in 2022, 'Stone Cold' was back.

Fans went wild with fantasy matches for the icon. Brock Lesnar? John Cena? Roman Reigns? No, no and no. Instead, the spot went to Kevin Owens, and no-one could quite believe it. Those raised eyebrows nearly shot clean off foreheads when KO was announced as Austin's rival.

Come crunch time, it worked a charm.

The lead-in 'KO Show' segment had everyone sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for a Stunner or six, then the resultant brawl turned out to be a total riot. It was the best use of both men. Looking back, Kevin Owens was the perfect foil for Steve's first showing in 19 long years, but you couldn't convince peeps of that pre-show.
