10 Wrestling Moments That Broke The Internet

3. CM Punk's Pipebomb

For evidence of this promo's impact on the internet wrestling fandom, just look at how many of its lines are regularly quoted on forums and messageboards to this day. His worked shoot was perhaps the best promo of its kind in wrestling history, maintaining kayfabe just enough to make sense in storyline, while speaking to smarkier fans on a whole new level. The internet lit up as the promo was in progress; fans could scarcely believe their ears, as a superstar was seemingly given free reign to air their very own grievances in eloquent, brutally entertaining fashion. Like a condensed, more potent version of the Nexus invasion, Punk's sermon seemed to signify real change for the WWE. Of course, we now know that it all went sour for Punk in the end, but this promo (and subsequent victory over John Cena) paved the way for indie-rooted stars such as Bryan, Rollins and Kevin Owens. It fully deserved its initial, internet-breaking reaction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OS9wZGb_3g
