10 Wrestling Moments That Exploited Nostalgia (And Failed)
6. DX Try To Give The Revival The Rub
To the emerging talent of this present generation, the famed DX rub is as terrifying as Joe Biden's.
That was the apparent objective of RAW 25's finale. WWE genuinely thought that sharing the same ring with DX is enough to get that talent over. To them, it's a form of osmosis; these newer talents are exalted by the very presence of Triple H, which is strange, because he shakes every last f*cker by the hand and none of them have become megastars yet.
The Revival were decimated handily by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on the night, after which Scott Dawson grabbed Scott Hall by the shoulder. He was pissed off. He was about to get pissed off for three straight years: Hall threw a toothpick in his eye, X-Pac floored him with the X-Factor, Road Dogg got himself on a register with his foul dancing, and Billy Gunn did his finish. Dash Wilder tried to save his friend, and was hit with a one-two Sweet Chin Music/Pedigree combo for his troubles.
Seriously: how does this rub work?
If I told my old, lapsed pals that Road Dogg went over in a 2018 main event, they'd ask who Road Dogg is, faintly remember, and wonder what I'm doing with my sh*tty life.
