6. ECW's "One-Off" Return Was A Decade Ago

When it was decided to do the first ECW One Night Stand PPV, it was believed by all involved to be merely a one-off show that would give fans the chance to revisit some fond memories and relive some of the extreme style of Paul Heyman's rebel promotion.

One Night Stand was a huge, huge success, but it was also way, way back in 2005 that the show took place. That's crazy to think about, but it is indeed the case.

Not only was the card full of former ECW superstars who now plied their trade in the WWE, wrestlers who you thought would never be seen again on a WWE production were also brought in for the show; guys like Sandman, Sabu, Masato Tanaka and Mikey Whipwreck. Such was the positive response to the return of ECW, a second One Night Stand took place in 2006 and famously saw Rob Van Dam defeat John Cena for the WWE Title and in the process plant the seeds for the full-time return of ECW as a third brand to accompany Raw and Smackdown. The less said about the WWE's ECW brand the better, though.

It seems like only yesterday that the Extreme stars of years gone by were under the WWE umbrella. Surely it can't be 10 years, right?
