10 Wrestling Moments That Will Make You Really Feel Old

2. Steve Austin Last Wrestled 12 Years Ago

Forget the rumours of Steve Austin getting back in the ring at Wrestlemania 32, it's more shocking to think that the Texas Rattlesnake wrestled his last match a whole 12 years ago.

Simply put, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was the hottest superstar of the hottest period in professional wrestling history, with him being 'the man' when the then-WWF was drawing huge TV ratings and selling an unprecedented amount of merchandise. Austin's run was white-hot. Sure, it may not have been as long as a Hulk Hogan or Bruno Sammartino, but his star shone brighter than those two greats of the business.

Austin's heyday of beer trucks, Zambonis, throwing titles from bridges, flipping birds and delivering Stunners are a thing of the past. To realise that the Bionic Redneck's final match, against The Rock at Wrestlemania 19, was 12 years ago makes it seem like a lifetime away.

Additionally, it'll make you feel even older when you discover that there are some current wrestling fans who have simply never heard of Steve Austin and all they know is Super Cena and his offensively-bright t-shirts.

Whether Austin has one more match or 'fight' in him, we'll have to wait and see, but the fact that his last tussle was so long ago certainly raises some questions.
