10 Wrestling Moments You Didn’t Realise Inspired People To Become Wrestlers

9. Anthony Bennett - Monday Night Raw 1998: Kane & Undertaker Attack McMahon

Anthony Bennett may not be as well known a star as the majority of the other names on this list, but the former Cruiserweight Classic participant's unique reason for choosing a career in-between the ropes more than justifies his place here.

Back in 1998, Vince McMahon wasn't happy with The Undertaker and Kane as the pair had both failed to protect him from 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. So, Mr. McMahon decided that neither man would be crowned new WWF Champion, despite the fact they'd both pinned and defeated Austin at Breakdown: In Your House. Instead, the pair would battle in a one-on-one match for the gold at Judgment Day with Austin acting as special referee.

'Taker and the 'Big Red Machine' weren't best pleased by this decision and one ill-timed hand gesture later, McMahon was brutally attacked by the 'Brothers of Destruction' and had his ankle smashed to pieces by some steel steps.

This moment clearly sparked something in a young Bennett as he later revealed to the Pancakes and Powerslams Podcast:

'When Kane and The Undertaker slammed the steps on Vince McMahon’s ankle. Ever since then, I wanted to be like that. I wanted to big that big guy walking around without a care. Just feeling like you are indestructible. But, clearly, size isn’t on my side.'

You never know when you're going to be bitten by the wrestling bug. For some it happens during the main event of WrestleMania, whereas others embrace this nutty profession after witnessing Vinny Mac getting beaten up by two towering monsters.
