The Styles Clash has been the subject of divisive discourse over the years, even though those that have suffered injury have done so mostly due to simple forgetfulness rather than dangerous inexperience.

It asks for wrestlers to not do something they would normally, and the occasional misplaced instinct has often ended - or nearly ended - in disaster.

It's subsequently been infused with a little bit of added menace - not only will it be kayfabe devastating if it hits, it'll be an out-and-out career-ended. That’s the story now anyway. Multiply both of those by a factor of the middle turnbuckle, and you’ve got a weekly finisher somehow converted into a terrifying killshot.
