10 Wrestling Moves That Have Been Completely Ruined

6. Anything On The Ring Apron

WWE had the right idea when they established that Kevin Owens' pop-up powerbomb could incapacitate anyone unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of it, as his opponents were out of action for a substantial period of time if he hit them with it on the ring apron.

Sami Zayn was the very first victim of the devastating maneuver at NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution, and it was at least a month before he was seen on NXT TV again. John Cena also missed an episode of Raw or two after taking the move at the hands of Owens at Money in the Bank 2015.

He later ditched the pop-up powerbomb in favor of the Stunner, but anything involving the ring apron hasn't meant much since well before that. Fans are, ironically, so accustomed to being told by commentators (in WWE as well as elsewhere) that the apron is the hardest part of the ring that it isn't a shock to see someone laid out on the apron and miraculously recover moments later.

There are never any lasting effects.

Whether it's a powerbomb, a Curb Stomp or something else where the opponent lands directly on the ring apron, that should be enough to keep them down for the count. Unfortunately, it's quickly forgotten about and is treated like a normal occurrence.
