10 Wrestling Performances That Proved People Wrong
3. Kenny Omega - & Hangman Page Vs. The Young Bucks, AEW Revolution 2020
AEW may have gotten off to a hell of a start during its first few months of existence, but the same couldn't be said for one of its supposed top tier stars in Kenny Omega. Or at least that's how a fairly vocal portion of the internet felt.
In fairness to The Cleaner, he'd set a ridiculously high bar for himself in the lead up to agreeing to becoming All Elite, putting on numerous matches that completely destroyed Dave Meltzer's star rating system. So, with Omega appearing to get lost in the main event shuffle somewhat, many were quick to suggest that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion simply couldn't cut it on American TV or connect with a western audience.
Cue one of the most pulsating weekly storylines in AEW's already illustrious history involving the simmering tensions felt within The Elite as Omega and Hangman Page routinely threatened implosion en-route to meeting their Young Buck pals in one of, if not the greatest tag team match you ever did see.
Once the team's Revolution 2020 epic was in the books, Omega not only proved that he could "do American TV" but that he was already a master of it.
