Before he finally made his debut inside of a WWE ring back in 1996, Mick Foley was told by some people in the know that Vince McMahon was wholeheartedly against bringing Cactus Jack to the promotion, with boss even going as far as to say "Cactus Jack will never step foot inside of a WWE ring."

Even when the star was ultimately brought on board the WWE ship, McMahon made a point of covering up his face with a mask and clearly had no intention of turning Foley into one of his next top stars. However, once he saw the masterful worker connect with those in attendance in the one-of-a-kind way only Foley could, the boss knew he had something special on his hands.

Before the company knew what had hit them, Foley was boasting not one, but three different gimmicks, with Mankind, Dude Love, and lastly, Cactus Jack all going down a treat with the paying public. Proving McMahon wrong once and for all, Cactus Jack would eventually go to war with Triple H, on the night Foley debuted his trusty character on WWE television, in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match on Raw in 1997.
