10 Wrestling Promo Masters Who Never Needed A Script

4. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is one of the most obnoxious men in wrestling history - a quite remarkable feat given the history of egos associated with the business over the years. He wisely used this to his advantage throughout his career, infusing his character with just enough egomania to attract both the admiration and scorn of fans. Early signs of his ability came with the hilarious 'Man of 1004 Holds' promo during Y2J's WCW days, in which he stood in the ring with a comically large scroll of paper and proceeded to list every hold in his arsenal. 'Armbar' featured multiple times. His charisma earned the mainstream attention it deserved upon his electrifying WWF debut in 1999. Interrupting The Rock mid-promo, Jericho burst onstage like a rockstar and proclaimed himself the saviour of the company, drawing an instantly favourable reaction despite his intended heel status. One of Jericho's greatest strengths - his versatility - was proven during his reinvention as a super-serious suit-wearing heel in the late 2000s, as he willingly stripped away the glitz and glamour which garnered his original popularity, baiting fans by simply refusing to entertain them. They were entertained anyway. Ingenious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGsBRImD0po
