10 Wrestling Promo Masters Who Never Needed A Script

3. CM Punk

CM Punk deserves to be looked back upon as one of the most charismatic figures in WWE history. In an era of cookie-cutter promos, he stood out as on an entirely different level to almost every single person on the roster, spitting out his opinions with an intensity, ease and confidence. His infamous 'pipe bomb' in 2011 kicked off one of the most groundbreaking feuds of the 21st century, as he harnessed the fury of wrestling's disgruntled hardcore fanbase and used it to drum up an almost cult-like following. Although his comments flew well over the heads of much of the WWE's target demographic, every backstage gripe was rooted in good wrestling logic too - an often overlooked and difficult skill (just look at WCW's countless attempts at worked shoots). Punk's fairly short career - for a wrestler of his caliber and skill, at least - was simply littered with unforgettable moments: the mid-Royal Rumble promo, various 'Straight Edge Sermons', and his constant raging against the status quo. Although unlikely to be mentioned on WWE television any time soon, he should be remembered as a true giant of the microphone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OS9wZGb_3g
